Cross Country at Elizabeth Woodville (3.3.14)
We took 39 children to EWS to take part in the Cluster Cross Country competition. The rain on the whole stayed off, although the mud was a good practise for Woodford Halse next week. All the children did incredibly well and there were many first time runners who did themselves proud.
In the Year 2 race they were amazing, it was a long way around and we got 2 boys in the top ten, Ed (5th) and Jack Lennox (9).
As you know we were a bit light on the Year 3/4 girls but the four that ran did really well, with Livvy coming 3rd. Well done girls.
The Year 3/4 boys spend most of break and lunch time running so we knew they could do it! They did fantastically well and our top three finishers were Harry (3rd), Andrew (9th) and Morgan (11th), we will wait for the overall results to come in.
The Year 5/6 girls promised they would do their best and they certainly delivered. Jessica (1), Peggy (3), Amy (4), Isabella (5) and the other girls running so well also. Good work girls.
Finally the Year 5/6 boys ran. We got 4 boys in the top 10! Harry (5), Rio (6), Jack R (8) and Ollie (10) All our boys came in within the top 20, that’s another 5 boys. Amazing effort boys!

Mr Aldous coaches a group of children after school on Mondays. Each week he will choose two Players of the Week – one from the older group and one from the younger group.
Well done to Alice Downes and Harry Ward for claiming the players of the week. February’s player of the month goes to Tom Wilkinson-Foster, so well done Tom. But as I always say, well done everybody for making it a hard decision to pick the players of the week/month as you all are putting in great effort and performances.
Luckily the rain stopped just before we started, then started again ten minutes after we finished, so we can’t complain about that.
